If All Else Fails

Yesterday, we were driving through the beautiful rural Virgina countryside on our way to my wife's grandmother's 80th birthday celebration. Not too far from their little cabin on the Potomac river, we encountered this church in Poolesville, Maryland: Our Lady of the Presentation.

I must confess that I felt more than a little glee when I cast my gaze upwards toward the steeple. I had no idea, in addition to wishing for some good old fashioned luck, that I could make supplication for a little Divine intervention - especially when it comes to those really tough presentations when so much seems at stake.

I mean no disrespect to the Roman Catholic church - an institution that I venerate and respect. But, you must admit, they seem to have thought of everything.

So, if you haven't had adequate time to prepare, if all else fails, then pray.
